The Labyrinth… a rich experience for many here at St. Tars
“Peaceful,” “Prayerful,” “Uplifting,” “Relaxing,” “Soothing,” “Contemplative” and “Wonderful,” are some of the words used to describe the labyrinth experience. Nearly 200 people walked the labyrinth in addition to most of our religious education and school children. Many found it a relief from the hustle and bustle of life and an opportunity to quiet down and “feel the Divine Presence.” Another commented, “The labyrinth itself, the soft lighting, the music - all provided for a perfect atmosphere to allow oneself to go inside.” One of the children wrote, “I felt like I was floating… I felt like God was right there in front of me.”
The labyrinth seems to offer something for everyone who opens himself/herself to the opportunity. An ancient meditation tool, the labyrinth serves as a metaphor for our lives and allows us to appreciate and acknowledge the holy ground on which we walk and the inner holiness of our lives and daily experiences.
“I felt like each time I passed another person I was passing an angel.”
“I felt like I could follow my dreams and nothing could stand in my way.”
“A much needed slowing of thoughts forced me to really concentrate on my relationships - with God, my family, friends and fellow parishioners.”
“Thanks for bringing some peace to a weary soul in search of her God during a time of loss.”
“It was a time of slowing down and finding God in my life… time to let go of meaningless stuff!”
“It’s a great way to quiet your mind and put things in perspective.”
