We celebrated the Opening School Mass for the 2016-17 year on August 29, 2016. This was the first mass for Pope Francis Global Academy. Archbishop Cupich was the presider. Over 500 students and faculty attended, along with some parents and parishioners as well. It was a great way to begin a new school and a new year.

Archbishop Cupich reminded us all that we are in good hands. Our children's hands are in larger hands, hands most willing to guide and direct, to help and protect, and all of our hands are in God's hands. Together, our hands will work to bring good things to life at Pope Francis Global Academy. It is Pope Francis who reminds us that we are all brothers and sisters in the Lord, one family in God. It is our privilege and responsibility to care for our earth and for each other. As he demonstrates this very genuinely, so, too, must we, by doing the good works that he does.

At Pope Francis Global Academy, we teach our students to become, critical thinkers, to see the larger picture, and to remember that they are part of a much larger world. We instill the values of our Catholic faith and help them to be the best they can be through prayer, worship, and study. This, then, helps them to put faith into action, all born out in the love of Christ. There will be much to learn in this first year. It will be a year of discovery.

As we move forward, we do so in faith, hope, and love, with the Gospel of Christ as our guiding light. This is, indeed, a most exciting time for all. May it prove to be one of great promise and growth in the years to come as we continue to provide Catholic education, here on the Northwest side, for future generations.

Congratulations to all who had a hand in making Pope Francis Global Academy a reality.
