COMMUNITY EVENT - Saint Cornelius Food Pantry

The St. Cornelius Food Pantry continues to be generously supported by
St. Cornelius and St. Tarcissus parishioners plus good people from other places.

FOOD PANTRY UPDATES AS OF MAY 31, 2020 - Last week 114 households, consisting of 311 individuals were served by the St. Cornelius Food Pantry. Additionally, they received and distributed 100 bags of food from Shop and Save during the week, and made additional 14 bags of food from pantry stock. We received an additional 200 Greater Chicago Food Depository 30 pound boxes on May 21. We are allotted 400 boxes for June. With current stock of boxes and our allotment of 400 to be delivered in June and with the rate of between 110 and 120 patrons a week we should be covered until 30 June. Panera Bread also continue to deliver fresh bread and they received donations from Notre Dame High School, the Resurrection High School Parents Club and St. Juliana Parish. The food pantry operates out of the St. Cornelius Rectory which is right behind the church at 5430 West Foster. Each patron is welcome to visit once a week.

OUR SAINT CORNELIUS FOOD PANTRY - It’s available to individuals who live in the 60630, 60641 and 60646 zip codes. Those who come to the pantry for food do not need to prove financial need. They are asked only to sign in, and then show an ID to confirm residency in one of the three zip codes served.

The food pantry operates on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 1 to 2 pm. The Food Pantry is located in the convent building at St. Cornelius (Foster and Long Avenues). Donations of money are always welcome for those who would like to help but are not available to shop.

A full list of suggested items for the food pantry is available in the vestibule of the church and in the rectory.
Non-perishable food items may be dropped in the box in the church vestibule and monetary donations may be put into the slots in the church vestibule for the poor. This is delivered to St. Cornelius Food Pantry, which greatly assists in feeding the poor.
