Ushers

Ushers are ministers who show hospitality to people attending Sunday Mass. Some of their duties include, but are not limited to: greeting people as they arrive for Mass, helping to pass the collection basket, directing the Communion procession and distributing the bulletin as worshipers exit. We are the first persons that people meet when they come to church. Our job is to make them feel welcome, wanted, valued, and special. In addition, ushers provide the logistical services that allow the Mass to run smoothly and attend to the myriad details that are part and parcel of large gatherings.

They are welcoming, dependable, flexible and active participants in the liturgy. Ushers are present at weekend Masses and are needed to help on Holy Days and at other special liturgies.

Persons interested in learning more about being an usher, please call the St. Tarcissus Office at 773-763-8228 or email Jim Madura at jmadura@sttars.org.
