AND TO:

Welcome to a new
year of Girl Scouts! I was the Daisy troop leader last year and am very
excited to make the move to Brownies. We have a large troop of 20 girls
made up of 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders. My co-leader, Sofia Latz and I are
up to the challenge and are looking forward to working with your daughters.
Troop Schedule
Please find the
troop schedule listed below. I will send updates as there
are changes. The schedule includes troop meetings and
school-wide Girl Scout events. Our troop outings have not
yet been planned. I will send information about these as
they are planned.
Phone
List
I
would like to distribute a troop phone list containing the girls names and
phone numbers. This list will only be distributed to Troop
5 parents. Please call or e-mail me this week if you do
not want your phone number on the list.
Dues
Troop dues are $35
and are due at the first meeting. Please make checks
payable to Girl Scouts Troop 5. Of course cash is also
accepted. Dues cover the cost of craft & activity
supplies, Try-Its, patches, pins and any other items needed to run the troop
for the school year.
Fundraisers
Girl Scouts has
two major fundraisers each year; the Fall Product Sale and the Cookie Sale.
The Fall Product Sale materials will be distributed at the first
meeting on 9/24. Orders are due at the 10/15 meeting.
The money we earn from the fundraisers stays in the troop and helps
offset the cost of any outings we plan.
Uniforms
First year
Brownies need to get a Brownie vest, which will be used for all three years of
Brownies. You can purchase a vest for $14.50 at the locations listed
below. Try-Its (Brownie patches) and other patches your
daughter earns can be ironed onto the vest. You can also
buy the Girl Scout Council Patch and the troop number patch at these
locations. The vest is mandatory for all Girl Scout
ceremonies, including Investiture and Court of Awards. It
should also be worn to the school-wide Girl Scout events listed on the
schedule. The vests may be worn for troop meetings, but are
not mandatory.
